IHHT training device In development
Altitude preparation in your living room: a device for intermittent hypoxic–hyperoxic training — for alpinists who want to pre-acclimatise before an expedition, and for endurance athletes.
How IHHT works
In intermittent hypoxic–hyperoxic training you breathe alternating cycles of oxygen-reduced and oxygen-enriched air. In its effect on blood oxygen saturation, the oxygen-reduced phase corresponds to being at high altitude; the enriched phase shortens the recovery in between.
A session consists of several such cycles. It is controlled through the oxygen concentration of the breathing gas and guided by the user's measured oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and heart rate. The device therefore follows the individual response rather than a fixed script.
Who it is for
- Alpinists who want to pre-acclimatise before an expedition or a high-altitude objective, without travelling to altitude beforehand
- Endurance athletes who want to add a further training stimulus to their preparation
- People who work at altitude professionally and prepare for it
- Users who want to document their sessions and track progress over weeks
Why we are building this device
Because we are keen alpinists ourselves.
A four-thousander at the weekend means leaving on Friday evening and standing at 3,500 metres on Saturday morning. There is no time for real acclimatisation in between — and you feel it.
That is the gap we want to close: an IHHT device for the home that makes the weeks before a tour count. For ambitious athletes who would rather not meet the altitude for the first time on the mountain.
Development status
The device is in development and not yet available. If you are interested as a user, test participant or distribution partner, get in touch — we will keep you informed about progress and availability.
